LTK-designed railcarBest to be on the safe side.

Sydney’s Central Business District (CBD) and South East light rail is a new 12km network running between Circular Quay and Randwick, with a branch line from Moore Park to Kingsford. The new system provides turn-up-and-go services with vehicles running every 4-8 minutes between Central and Circular Quay.

ALTRAC is the consortium responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the network and manages the key design, construction, operations, and maintenance subcontractors Acciona, Alstom, and Transdev.

LTK Australia was engaged by ALTRAC to provide overarching safety assurance for the project. LTK was responsible for integrating the safety management of the design and construct (D&C) contractor with the operation and maintenance (O&M) contractor to provide a singular safety case for commencing operations and maintenance.

This provided a holistic approach to align safety management, accreditation, governance, and competency management processes to present a safety case to the regulator and owner, Transport for New South Wales (tfNSW). LTK was actively engaging with the regulator and owner to ensure any safety issues were managed in an amenable manner with each key stakeholder.
