James Adams and Nicole Harrington were the recipients of COMTO Philadelphia scholarships sponsored by LTK.

LTK Engineering Services is proud to announce that James Adams and Nicole Harrington are the 2019 recipients of company-sponsored scholarships awarded annually by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO).

Adams, who is planning to major in mechanical engineering at George Washington University, received the inaugural George N. Dorshimer scholarship. Dorshimer, who served as President of LTK from 1995-2016, has been instrumental in the success of COMTO Philadelphia’s annual golf tournament fundraisers. Harrington, who has yet to declare a major, will attend the University of Pennsylvania.

“I’m honored to have this scholarship named after me,” said Dorshimer. “COMTO is a great organization, which continues to make important contributions to the transit industry. The Philadelphia Chapter’s focus on educational support for local students is critically important to the long-term health of our industry, and I’m pleased that LTK has been able to provide significant support for those efforts.”

Michelle Hiett, the President of COMTO Philadelphia, praised Dorshimer for his hard work and dedication throughout the years.

“George was chiefly responsible for COMTO being able to hold our outing at Manufacturers Golf and Country Club [a private course in Fort Washington, PA],” said Hiett, a Systems Consultant in LTK’s Ambler, PA, office. “He has been vouching for us for 21 years and has helped us raise over three-quarters of a million dollars for scholarships.  No one is more deserving.”

LTK also received the Sponsor of the Year Award.

Dominic DiBrito, the current president of LTK, said he was delighted to accept the award on behalf of all LTK employees.

“Public transportation patrons are about the most diverse group that you might encounter, and to best serve this group, both the transit authorities and their consultants need a diverse workforce,” said DiBrito. “Through scholarships, internships, mentoring, and advocacy, COMTO is critical to advancing that agenda.  We at LTK are just happy to support such an important mission.”
